Our Friend and Teacher

Posted by admin on Mar 10, 2009 in Uncategorized

Today I found out that our friend and yoga teacher passed away after her fight with cancer. KathyLee was the last you would ever think would become sick from cancer. She was a vegetarian, fit and had a way about her that was funny and peaceful.  KathyLee taught us about yoga, about friendship and about being a biker.  We would meet for our yoga class at Cafe India in San Diego every week. Afterward, we would sit around a table and eat Indian food, talk and laugh all in the spirit of friendship.  We talked about starting a biker bar in Alpine or making motorcycle helmets that looked like breast and laugh about the latest asinine thing that President Bush did.

Thank you KathyLee for the wonderful gift you given us. You opened yourself to us and taught us well.  I know that you are now free of pain and riding your bike again. We will see you again my friend, my teacher. Namaste

Winter Biathlon

Posted by admin on Feb 1, 2009 in Humor, Sports, Video

I have been wanting to learn Cross Country Skiing and compete in some biathlons.  I have been lucky enough to race in a Summer biathlon about 10 years ago in Oakland and have been wanting to return to it.

The biathlon is a race in which you either run or ski for a distance and then shoot at targets with a .22 cal rifle then run or ski some more and shoot and then head for the finish line.  It is all about breathing control, recovery ability and precision shooting.

Now here is a humorist view of a winter biathlon.  I saw this on gotgeoint.com

An American in London

Posted by admin on Jan 28, 2009 in Family, Humor, Pictures, Travel

Sue sent me this picture that her Mum took visiting the Tower of London. Now, doesn’t she look like the typical American tourist?  You’ve been living in the States too long, Sue.

The Tower Guard looks all of 12 years old and as skinny as a rail.

I think Sue is taking lots of pictures because she keeps asking how many pictures fit on a 2 gb SDcard.

Looks like Sue is having fun, cold but having fun.

We miss you Sue!

Running the Sahara – Movie

Posted by admin on Jan 24, 2009 in Running, Travel, film

I really enjoyed this movie and the adventure these runners had.

I don’t know why these types of movies catch my eye so much.

Maybe I need my own adventure. Any ideas?

My dog and soccer balls

Posted by admin on Jan 20, 2009 in Humor, Pets, Pictures, Soccer

Our dog Brie loves soccer balls. Any time we give one to play with she pops it in no time. So it is funny how good she is riding in the back of my Jeep next to a bag of soccer balls. It must be killing her not to get a tooth on one.

Gone but not forgotten…

Posted by admin on Jan 20, 2009 in Humor, News, Video

Well King George is now a memory.

During his reign we have been dragged into a war that still has no end in sight. The US went into a country with no just cause, has spent trillions of dollars and cost thousands of lives both military and civilian.  We have also lost millions in housing values and plunged into the worst economy many of us have ever seen in our lifetimes.  Let us learn from our decisions and the bullshit that was feed to us as well as the fear we let control us. Let us never go down this road again.

Let the change began…

Jeanie Moos is one of my favorite CNN Correspondents and here is a little story she did, enjoy.

Getting back out running…

Posted by admin on Dec 27, 2008 in Running
Map picture

After being bogged down with a cold for the last week and a half I finally felt well enough to get out for a run.  I was coughing a lot and still had some congestion but over all it went pretty good.  I was just a couple of minutes slower then my last 4 miler before I was sick.  It’s pretty amazing how a little cold can affect you and your body.

Throughout the whole run my nose was running and I had to keep spiting out the congestion.  I thought about trying to do the Snot Rocket thing but it never works for me.  I don’t know how the soccer players do it.  I just make a mess.  There must be a web site or YouTube video on the perfect technique.

I started using a new product called nuun | optimal hydration since I am such a sweater.  I can even workup a sweat playing Goalie.  I think that could cause me to be a little more susceptible to getting sick since I lose so much electrolytes when I workout.   Nuun has next to no calories and kind of refreshing.  I would recommend it.
